An electric fence on the Atlantic Seaboard has to survive salt spray, strong wind and some very steep boundaries. In Bantry Bay, Clifton and Bakoven, cheap wire and brackets corrode within a few seasons, joints fail and the voltage drops. Stepped walls on sloping plots in Fresnaye and Camps Bay need careful bracket work to keep the wires evenly tensioned.
