Yes. Heavy sliding gates need a heavy-duty motor such as the Centurion D10, with the right gear ratio and battery for the weight. Before quoting, we inspect the gate on site: if the wheels are seized or the track is uneven, the gate drags and even a big motor will struggle. Fixing the gate first is what makes the automation last.
The motor has a collision sensor that stops the gate when it feels resistance, and a strong south-easter pushing on a long gate feels just like an obstacle. Turning the sensitivity down isn’t the answer on its own. Worn guide rollers and a gate that’s out of true are usually the real cause, and fixing those stops the false trips without making the gate less safe.
A standard sliding gate installation typically takes two to three hours, depending on the gate and the site. Heavy gates, swing gates or gates that need track or roller work first take longer. We assess the site before quoting, so you know the scope and timeframe before we start.
Where power cuts are frequent, it’s usually worth it. Lithium batteries handle constant recharging better than lead-acid, recover faster and generally last longer, which matters when the gate is your only way in or out. Not every motor or charger supports lithium, so we check your model first and tell you whether the upgrade makes sense.
